Film Swap: Collaborative Camera Work at Forward Thinking Museum

A photograph that Jesús Joglar and I made in a film swap collaboration, "In the arboreal castle," is included in the exhibit, "Film Swap: Collaborative Camera Work" at the Forward Thinking Museum, a virtual space for contemporary photography.

Curator Peter Fahrni explains the process of film swap in his introduction, and offers intriguing comments about the meaning of this form of collaboration. Spanning three online galleries, this exhibit shows the often beautiful and surreal imagery that can result.

New note cards and calendars

Two new calendars and 35 new note cards/post cards are now available in  my Redbubble shop.

One calendar features meditations on solitude - in the form of photographs of great egrets - from my series, "Quiet explorations."

The other calendar features new photographs from my series, "From destruction grows a garden of the soul." I made these images during the second year of the mountain's recovery from a disastrous fire, as hope continued to bloom, seemingly against all odds.

On the note cards (available in 4" x 6" and 5" x 7.5" sizes) and post cards (4" x 6") are images from these calendars, additional images from these two series, and five Polaroid images:

I hope you'll enjoy them! All of the images are also available directly from me as exhibition-quality prints.

Wunderkammer at Art Thou Gallery

I'm honored and delighted that six of my photographs will be part of the exhibit Wunderkammer at the Art Thou Gallery.

According to Wikipedia, "Cabinets of curiosities (also known as Kunstkabinett, Kunstkammer, Wunderkammer, Cabinets of Wonder, and wonder-rooms) were encyclopedic collections of objects whose categorical boundaries were, in Renaissance Europe, yet to be defined. Modern terminology would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings), and antiquities." This exhibit will surely be a wonder-room!

The exhibition runs from Tuesday, December 1, 2015 through Thursday, January 17, 2016 [date updated 11/29/15]. An artist reception is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, in conjunction with the Solano Avenue Art Walk.

The Art Thou Gallery is located at 1533 Solano Ave. Berkeley, CA 94707 and can be reached by phone at 510-525-7779 or email at artthougallery@gmail.com.

RayKo 8th Annual International Juried Plastic Camera Show

RayKo Gallery's 8th Annual International Juried Plastic Camera Show opens next week! I'm excited and very proud that my photograph, "We have today," is included.

The opening reception will be on Wednesday, March 11, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. RayKo is located at 428 Third Street, San Francisco, CA, and can be reached by phone at 415-495-3773. The exhibit runs through May 3.

The show was juried by fine art photographer, master printer, teacher, and RayKo Gallery Director Ann Jastrab, and includes work by some of my favorite plastic camera artists.

In Ann's words, "Come see this year's selections which include impressive and often astonishing images made by the cheap, crappy camera-toting winners of this competition. Photographers from all over the Bay Area as well as national and international artists are featured in this annual ever-changing exhibit."
